Principle Insurance Agent jim@georgelas.com I was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. I attended local schools and graduated from South High School. I attended the University of Utah and studied Finance & Accounting with emphasis on Insurance & Real Estate. My father owned Chris & Nick’s Service Station on Main Street, where I worked until I was fifteen. My father was the ultimate “task-master” and he made me earn every paycheck, but it helped me to develop a great work ethic. Later, I was hired in the retail industry by Woolworth’s, where I worked my way up the ladder to management and stayed six years there. During the years 1978 through 1980, I lived in Sheridan, Wyoming and Denver, Colorado, working on my uncle Manny’s cattle ranches. He had made a considerable amount of money and he hired me to facilitate several investments in which the company was involved. I have experience in the Mining business, Oil & Gas, and several other projects. By 1981, I had become an Insurance Agent and in 1986, Georgelas Financial Services was incorporated. That was also the year we started a Leasing division facilitating businesses with Equipment Leasing. The Insurance Agency has always been our primary focus and it has evolved into a full service agency. Currently, we have four employees. The agency has experienced tremendous growth and we anticipate even greater growth for the years to come. We are a full service agency. During High School, I was the drummer in a band named El Grecos. I played drums, professionally, for several years after that. I wrestled throughout high school, continued on the intermural program at the University of Utah and during my service in the U.S. Army. However, my favorite sport is football, which I played from when I was 5 years old until a Sophomore in High School. Although, I do enjoy all types of sports and continue to have an active lifestyle thanks to my local fitness center & my teenage grand-daughter, Adriana. I am lucky enough to have a professional team with me now which enables me to spend time with my family which is my greatest enjoyment. |
